It might be better not to start this blog with another apology because I have chosen to believe things happen when they must, not always when they "should" or when you think they have to. This belief of no coincidence has been circling around in my life, and sometimes it comes out. "Luckily", when I least expect it to, and I guess it is to remind me of the irony. Having said this, I am late, and I apologize. hahaha.

To you who is reading this blog, or who simply heard of my shop and instead of focusing on buying something decided to look around for more, thank you. I must say this externalization of my thoughts, feelings, point of view has been liberating. In more than one way I truly believe we get a message from random places and if I can partake in that for you, then my job is done.

Second time around sounds like the name of a vintage shop, but I chose the title because I have to say, I am experiencing something the second time around and it is wonderful. One can never truly say that you get to experience something in its full force the first time. Why? well, because emotions get in the way. For the most part, when you experience something for the first time, you are either, nervous, or anxious, or too excited to really grasp the situation. I get it, its new, and your brain hasn't been able to show your heart how you should "act". The second time around is the opportunity to re-live that experience with a little more knowledge as to what you are getting yourself into. I feel like i know what to do, but I am learning to do it again. I am talking about work of course, although that sentence could apply to many aspects beyond work.

On the entrepreneurial side, I finally sat at a table and sold my pieces to the open public. Not that having a website isn't selling to the public, but I mean in person, one on one kind of skill. I must admit I need to brush up on that skill and really learn to explain myself. See, doing what you love requires no explanation, no audience, no selling. You simply get onto it and it flows. At least that is how i feel when I do my pieces. Some artist have a process, and it is organized and carefully designed. I have not been able to encapsulate my work in that way, and because such a big part of it is to be able to transfer that story, well, I am working on that skill. To me, the colors of the stone, the fabrics, the metal, the weight, come together out of feelings, memories, objects, drawings, beliefs. If I am sounding like a food critic, don't be surprised. I believe that doing this is more than just putting beads on a string and selling them. I am picky when it comes to form and the mixture of colors, and I try to make sure every piece conveys that. Cohesiveness runs within all of my pieces and that process thus far has no rules. The main lesson in this experience was, buying a mirror in which the potential customer can see herself wearing it, and hopefully fall in love with it.

On the finance portion of my life, it has been truly interesting to come back to doing something I know well, but with a different setting. This second time around has been about seeing my old routine with a new light. What can I learn, where can I be of help and what is the purpose of these new people around me. Sometimes, you find it that the people that come your way and cross your path have a purpose, and a lesson. if the message did not  resonate clearly, then you will hear the music again, with a different actor playing the role. I am a woman of caution, when it comes to re-living an old situation, and I know people are not always what they seem. However I have approached this setting without this skepticism, and ignoring other peoples perspectives, because, to each their own, and I want to give these new people a chance to show their colors to me. We are taught to glimpse at a situation and asses it in order to paint a picture. I want to asses that picture with my own lens, and so, thus far, I'm seeing unicorns and rainbows. (for the record, I do not consume drugs, just wine or beer on occasion)

This past month also, marked a chaotic situation in my home country, the peace agreement that had so many wrongs ended up losing all its steam, and for a mere 60 thousand votes, the Colombian people said NO. Now, the thing about politics is that I truly despise them. Maybe its because it embodies a legal way to lie, cheat, manipulate, promise, use, etc. I know that this is one of those topics one should not discuss because it can cause so much turmoil, but how can we not talk about it? I think about what is currently happening in America and what is yet to happen in Colombia (again ?) and I see the same thing. There is a collective consciousness that is manifesting in our world today, and we are all actively participating in it. With this is a lack of love, understanding, camaraderie, friendship, and the list goes on. I hate to say it, but all politicians exist because we not only elect them, we believe they are this way. Maybe if we changed that belief, would we see a new group of words behind Politician. Maybe we will not need to use that word because the new type of leader, or government will have evolved  and with it a new branding will happen.  I know this sounds a lot like a utopia, but if the world we now live in is a place that started in our own minds, then the world we could live in, can also be curated in the mind.

Have you experienced any second time around? Whatever that may mean to you, I encourage you try it and maybe by giving it a second look, you will gather a new perspective.

Gracias por leer y por su tiempo. Thank you for your time.
