We have all heard about her....
Maybe even saw her growing up, with that glowing red leotard, shiny gold crown and that fierce lasso. Yes, we all learned early in life about super heroes. Let me tell you, even if you didn't have a male sibling, somehow we all knew who the ninja turtles were, what kind of car Batman drove, and the notion that wearing a cape and a mask involved saving the world.
As an adult, we look back at all these stories and we can't understand how we didn't notice her before, our very own wonder woman, our Mother. She is by far the ultimate superhero, bar none. As a woman I failed to see the many things that my mother would do to keep me busy, entertained, educated, amused, happy and overall LOVED. We fail to see all these qualities, because, lets be honest, we sometimes take them for granted. We never see how she won't always be there for us, to "baby" us into eternity. Then, I had the opportunity to have a son, and suddenly it all came into perspective. Life changed for me, on that very moment, and every day since. I have become aware of the energy, devotion and responsibility that our roles as mothers have on this world.
We should celebrate Mom every day, because she, them, us (unlike most super heroes) never takes a day off. We never put down our capes and masks to become the "normal" human. In the most trying times of our lives, our mothers will be there, to shield us, guide us, and UNCONDITIONALLY love us with all of their being.
